2nd European TA conference in Berlin

After the first conference on European Technology Assessment (TA) held in Prague, 2013, the PACITA network (“Parliaments and Civil Society in Technology Assessment”), a network of TA institutions from across Europe, holds its second European TA conference on February 25-27, 2015, in Berlin. The Conference will take place under the motto “The Next Horizon of Technology Assessment”. It will consider, among other topics, the role of TA with regard to Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and Europe’s Grand Societal Challenges.

The overall aim of the conference is to take stock of and support the exchange on TA capacities throughout Europe. Following the successful meeting of researchers, TA practitioners, policy makers and casino online civil society organizations at the first European TA Conference, the organizers “… look forward to continue the fruitful discussions and networking at the second European TA Conference in Berlin.”

Generally, the PACITA project and the conference define “Technology Assessment” in a broad sense. TA comprises methods, practices and institutions for knowledge based policy making on issues involving science, technology and innovation, including TA-related fields such as Foresight, Science and Technology Studies (STS) and research on Ethical, Legal and Societal Aspects (ELSA) of science and technology.
